My Favourite Holiday Things

David Bowie & Bing Crosby awkwardly perform Peace On Earth/Little Drummer Boy for Bing’s Christmas special Bing Crosby’s Merry Olde Christmas. The track was recorded September 11th 1977, shortly before Bing’s death. It originally aired November 30th 1977.

Bing Crosby is my favourite Christmas person. I grew up listening to his Christmas records & White Christmas is my best-loved Christmas movie. This performance is the final piece of the Crosby trifecta that makes my holiday season happy. I never tire of watching this. Bowie’s so obviously trying to maintain & Bing seems to be wondering why the hell he’s having to duet with this strange British kid. They make the best of it though, and once you get past the hilarious dialogue during the set up, they make magical surreal music together when their voices merge.

so superior to whatever taylor swift hannah montanna auto tune santa-jesus in a box spectacular the networks are going to put out this year.

This see-through sea cucumber, dubbed Enypniastes (pictured), was spotted at depths of about 1.7 miles (2.7 kilometers) during a 2009 expedition in the northern Gulf of Mexico, scientists say. (See pictures of a deep-sea fish with a transparent head.)

The strange invertebrate creeps forward on its many tentacles while sweeping sediments filled with tiny critters into its mouth. When it’s ready to find another feeding ground, the sea cucumber “blooms into a startling curved shape and swims away,” CoML team members said in a statement.
